The Physical Therapist 3 (PT3) is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and implementing physical therapy services primarily to burn patients, and other patients as assigned by the Physical Therapy supervisor. The PT3 clinical specialist is expected to train specific physical therapy staff in their area of expertise and act as resource person for other physical therapy personnel working with patients with burns. The PT3 keeps abreast of current knowledge in the field and shares this information with the health care community and carries qualifications that are professionally recognized in the field.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess and maintain current licensure as a California Licensed Physical Therapist (PHYSTHER) by the California Board of Physical TherapyMust possess and maintain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification or UC Davis Health CPRMust have an APTA Clinical Educator Certification OR a willingness to obtain the CIMust possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in P hysical T herapyDemonstrated experience ( minimum of 2 years ) as a Physical Therapist working with burn population & treating patients with burnsMust supply all appropriate information to maintain Hospital credentialing in a timely mannerAdvanced knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to Physical Therapy as identified by Physical Therapy Practice Act and licensure by State of California, with specialized knowledge in Burn Physical TherapyAdvanced Skills to establish and follow/ provide plan of care appropriate to burn patients, and other patients with a variety of diagnosesMust be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required and assigned by PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehab LeadershipAdvanced Ability to serve as a resource for staff in Burn rehabilitationAbility to educate and train professional staff within the health system and in the communitySkills in effective verbal and written communication; able to effectively communicate with staff in a clear, concise, professional manner and able to establish rapport and communicate well with patients and family membersAbility to triage, schedule and assign caseload with an average daily census on the therapy service which may be >400 patients/dayAbility to demonstrate flexibility with daily job functions in a dynamic work environment where priorities and situations may change day to day and throughout the daySkills in area of judgment, including clinical and non-clinical judgmentSkills in leadershipOrganizational and development skillsSkills and ability to work in stressful situationsHighly developed maturity, tact, and diplomacy skillsAbility to provide and accept guidance and criticismMust see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient medical recordMust hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the dayMust possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobilityMust possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institutionMust have basic computer skillsPreferred Qualifications

Burn Therapy Certified (BT-C) clinician from the American Burn Association (ABA) or proof of working towards a BT-CKey Responsibilities

75% - Serves as resident P hysical T herapist expert and specialist with burn patients in the Burn ICU (as well as other hospital areas where like patients are located).
