Job Overview
Provides direct corporate accounting support for up to 6 property monthly financial statements, bank/balance sheet reconciliations and sales tax returns. Prepares and monitors the cash of the properties to include A/P disbursements, cash forecasts, funding requests and ownership distributions. Supports the accounting discipline for complex ownership structures. Prepares account analysis for balance sheet, income and expense accounts. Supports Management in both financial and sales/use tax audits. Oversees a team of 1-3 accountants, providing training, mentorship, accounting review and support. Ensures compliance with company policies, contractual obligations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
For multiple properties assigned:
Ensure all monthly statements, bank reconciliations and tax returns are accurately completed and submitted by accounting deadlines.
Prepare journal entries as appropriate to ensure accurate financial reporting. Produce and maintain proper supporting documentation of journal entries as well as other work.
Conduct analysis on all statements, balance sheets, income and expense accounts to ensure accuracy, identify trends and make recommendations for change that can positively impact the property.
Prepares monthly/quarterly sales tax filings
Assist properties with overall accounting needs and questions.
Provide accounting and finance support (special projects) to the VP of Accounting, Regional Controllers, and Operations Finance team as needed
Assist with annual budgets and forecasts, primarily related to fixed costs.
Oversee and mentor accountants/senior accountants to provide career growth.
Work with Manager to provide support to external auditors during reviews and audits.
Provide open communication and promote a positive and pro-employee work environment.
Bring all sensitive accounting-related information to the attention of leadership in all instances to limit liability.
Seek and propose ways to improve processes.
Compile various corporate reports and property reports to provide leadership with accurate information and comply with corporate policies and procedures as well as government laws and regulations.

All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications
Education/Formal Training
4 year Degree in Accounting or related field. Master’s Degree or CPA preferred.
Experience
At least 3 or more years of work experience in same or related field. Hospitality experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
Ability to read and understand the general ledger, balance sheet, and income statement financial reports
Exposure to sales, use and occupancy tax filings
Advanced level in producing/maintaining Excel spreadsheets
Experience with Great Plains, other Microsoft ERPs and/or PMS systems preferred
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Excellent comprehension and literacy required to communicate via e-mail, understand legal contracts, read bills, accounts, etc.
