All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. Job Description:
Responsibilities include administering payrolls to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments to approximately 2300 employees for salaries and wages. Manages pension transactions and communications with KPERS (state retirement system) and acts as the liaison between the UG and KPERS. Produces financial reports to the State of Kansas, KPERS, and UG auditors and departments. Processes employee W-2 forms in compliance with federal and state guidelines. Supervises payroll clerks and monitors work for accuracy and timeliness. Participates and supervises the preparation of a variety of reports and documents such as annual reports, year-end reports, and period-end reports. Works in conjunction with HR staff to ensure the Workday system is processing transactions accurately and resulting in accurate pay data. Manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Payroll department and performs other duties of similar nature or level.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration and five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public agency; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of theories and principles of the payroll function and basic budgeting. Skill in managing multiple payrolls, supervision of employees, preparing detailed reports and effective communication skills.
Salary Range:
$28.76- $39.25/hr.
