Location(s): We are seeking one (1) Recruiter to be stationed at the Watsonville Center.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Digital NEST is a workforce development center that has welcomed hundreds of youth from working-class, farmworker communities to develop the technical and professional skills they need to achieve their dreams. It is an exciting time for the NEST as we are on the precipice of expanding to a total of five communities across Northern California by the end of 2024. Digital NEST has centers in the heart of Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy, Modesto, and soon to launch in Stockton.
The Member Recruiter is a critically important position responsible for carrying out and implementing a variety of activities centered on external recruitment. General components of this role include member engagement and advising youth as members of the Digital NEST. The Member Recruiter is responsible for ensuring that Digital NEST is a household name among all prospective youth ages 14-24 years old by spending time on high school campuses and community outreach events. The Member Recruiter will ensure that all prospective members successfully register for and become engaged in Digital NEST programming such as Quest Club, Career Pathways, and bizzNEST with the goal of experiencing opportunities for continuous growth and development, leading to job or internship placement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment (60%)
Staff the satellite sites in the local highschool district 4 days a week, and build relationships with all relevant stakeholders to increase enrollment in Digital NEST Programs.Collaborate with the Center Director to identify key highschool stakeholders (e.g., teachers, counselors, activity directors) to refer youth to Digital NEST and develop targeted outreach opportunities.Attend highschool and college career fairs and support in-house Digital NEST community events for students and recent graduates.Support the Center Director in implementing and coordinating the centers recruitment plan.Maintain an outreach and recruitment toolkit.Utilize Digital NESTs five Areas of Focus (AOFs) including the diverse recruitment tactics, such as classroom presentations, email, phone outreach, and web-based campaigns, to increase local membership and meet annual targets.Document and share recruitment activities, and make recommendations for improvement to the Center Director.Maintain records of recruitment, retention, and engagement activities, including presentations, workshops, and participant data.Utilize systems like AirTable for data management and submit qualitative and quantitative reports on activities and outcomes.Participate in center, program, and regional meetings focused on recruitment and retention.Career Exploration Coaching (20%):
With support from Center Directors, establish and provide one-to-one and small group on-campus career exploration coaching sessions to explore what students value, need, what they are good at, and what they love.Assess youth personal and career interests and create a positive on-campus Digital NEST social environment.Maintain accurate records of members served on campus.Connect members with access to opportunities resulting in engagement with in-center Digital NEST program branches.Community Outreach (20%):
Regularly communicate with professional peers within external community based organizations (CBOs), nonprofits (NPOs), and governmental agencies about program offerings and participation opportunities.Drive member recruitment through community events to promote Digital NEST.Act as a community and school liaison, collecting data and compiling reports to support Digital NEST in remaining relevant within the community of designated populations.Provide preventive resources, referrals, through external organizations and agencies within the community for youth.With the support of the Center Director maintain cooperative relationships with community organizations and ensure confidentiality of youth information.QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field, or a minimum of 4 years of experience in youth recruitment and program delivery.Excellent customer service skills.Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Customer Relationship Management(CRM) platforms.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent time management skills.Attention to detail.Experience working with young adults ages 14 - 24.REQUIREMENTS:
Passion for the mission of Digital NEST and belief in upholding organizations core values.Understanding of and sensitivity to issues of culture/ethnicity/race, gender, sexual identity, class/socioeconomic status and immigration status.Ability to be an ally to people of color, women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning and intersex individuals and their allies (LGBTQIA).Participate in NEST evening and weekend programs and events on an occasional basis; facilitate youth involvement in these programs and events.Candidates must have a valid CA driver's license, have a reliable mode of transportation, and be able to travel and work evenings or weekends occasionally, or as needed.NOTE: The job offer will be contingent upon the successful completion and passing of a background check.
