DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:The Baseball Communications & Media Relations department for the Boston Red Sox serves as the liaison between the media and the club for all team-related public relations. This includes all team-specific baseball information, interview requests, game credentialing, and production of daily game information.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Baseball Communications & Media Relations department is looking for a candidate who will provide support to senior leadership and will help serve as the liaison between the media and the club for all team-related public relations, including baseball information, interview requests, credentialing, and the production of daily game information.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all baseball information efforts, including game notes, press releases, and media guides.Represent the Baseball Communications & Media Relations department on approximately half of all road trips during Spring Training and the regular season.Assist with all interview requests related to players, the coaching staff, and the front office.Contribute to the organization’s marketing, broadcasting, and creative services efforts.Regularly interact with media and monitor press coverage daily.CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of experience working for a professional sports team, including working directly with athletes and uniformed personnel.3+ years of experience serving as the primary front office representative during road trips.Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.Exceptional proofreading skills and attention to detail.Working knowledge of baseball statistical websites, including Baseball-Reference/Play Index, FanGraphs, Baseball Savant, and the MLB Research Portal.Extensive experience working with Adobe InDesign, especially as it relates to creating and editing media guide files and game notes.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Spanish fluency is preferred.Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate on organizational initiatives.Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.Ability to work hours consistent with the MLB schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.At the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management, we go beyond embracing diversity.
