Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Principal Systems Administrator for a fast-paced, growing and dynamic position to support our Immersive Mission Solutions (IMS) Operating Unit (OU). Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense.
This person will be supporting the US Army Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Business Operating System (PPB BOS) program at the Pentagon.
Job Responsibilities:
As a User/Operations Support Specialist, you will be supporting users and applications in the AWS GovCloud environment. Your responsibilities will include:
Perform application deployments for both custom developed and COTS applications.
Interact directly with the customer to coordinate software upgrades, maintenance, and system support activities.
Monitor systems and application performance. Troubleshooting performance issues through root-cause analysis and addressing system challenges.
Managing server and software configurations, ensuring adherence to established procedures, and documenting system changes.
Troubleshoot, Alert and Escalate operational issues.
Lead and coordinate operational support efforts requiring input/action from multiple internal and external teams.
Support occasional after-hours application deployments.
Apply Windows Server and Red Hat operating system patches.
Analyze process and make recommendations to improve team efficiency.
Document standard operating procedures and promote use of engineering best practices.
Additional duties may include creating user and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, optimizing system performance, and allocating storage space.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience or Master's degree with 3 years' experience OR 9 years' experience in lieu of degree.
Good attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently on tasks.
Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
Experience with COTS package upgrades and custom software deployments.
A minimum of a DoD Interim Secret security clearance with SSBI.
Must have a Security+ certification or equivalent certification for DoD 8570 compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other similar cloud systems.
Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and monitoring tools such as EC2, RDS, CloudWatch Logs, Systems Manager.
Knowledge of PKI Certificate based authentication / Single Sign-On.
Knowledge of Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, DNS and databases (Oracle, SQL Server, RedShift, others).
Knowledge of networking and communications.
Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementations.
Expertise in writing and executing automated Linux scripts using languages like Bash, PERL, Python, and/or Java.
Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
