$118,200.00 - $135,000.00 AnnuallyGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Host Systems Engineer is responsible for advanced level administration, support and design. Thescope of responsibility includes software and hardware installation, maintenance, project coordination, performance control and complex system design for credit union technology systems. This position will be an addition to the team of an experienced AIX Admin, ideally with Intersystems Cache experience, to support migration from OpenVMS and NonStop to AIX This job requires extensive knowledge and experience dealing with implementation and issue resolution of Power Systems for AIX, and migration from VSI OpenVMS server platforms and technologies, clustered and non-clustered systems, InterSystems Cache database, Tandem NonStop hardware - software, and storage platforms including enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:Administration and maintenance of systems hardware.Administration and maintenance of AIX operating systems on Power Systems Hardware Platform.Knowledge with VSI OpenVMS and InterSystems Cache database ideal Administration and maintenance of InterSystems Cache database including scripting and debugging.Detect, diagnose and resolve or escalate system issues arising within the system architecture including system hardware, storage hardware, operating systems, as well as commercial off the shelf and vendor applications.Monitor and report system security, performance and events utilizing system monitoring tools.Apply patches and updates to infrastructure components during maintenance releases as required.Prioritizes work assignments; responds to and resolves issues requests via a ticketing systemAdvise and participate in the development of network systems architecture, design, and ongoing review of system configurations in collaboration with relevant team members.Develop, document and implement operating procedures and conducts training as requiredResearch, design, plan, implement and document IT related projects.Work as liaison between other department managers and supervisors when coordinating support activities and project related tasks.Ensures that server and related security standards are adhered to.Maintains a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.Participate in the “on-call” rotation.Performs other job-related duties as necessary.PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:Effective oral and written communication skills required to train, direct, and evaluate staff, diagnose, correct and log computer projects and problems.Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:INTERNAL:

Associates degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or comparable discipline or equivalent work experience.EXPERIENCE:Minimum of ten years’ experience in Information Technology in a senior administrator role.Knowledge with VSI OpenVMS and InterSystems Cache database idealDemonstrates Knowledge with Power systems for AIX.Demonstrates knowledge with NonStop OS and hardware.Demonstrates exceptional knowledge with IBM Hardware.Demonstrates strong knowledge of enterprise-wide computing architectures and infrastructure practices spanning multiple operations systems and hardware platforms.Demonstrates strong knowledge with systems security practices.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged sitting throughout the workday to accomplish tasks.Availability for emergency and on call duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed.Occasional travel may be required.Lift and carry communications equipment and computer hardware weighing up to fifty pounds.Corrected vision in the normal range required to configure, test, and troubleshoot network server hardware and data.Hearing within normal range.Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment.May work additional work hours to accomplish tasks.LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required.Two of the following certification:Power Systems for AIXHP CSE –HP NonStop KernelTHIS JOB DESCRIPTION IN NO WAY STATES OR IMPLIES THAT THESE ARE THE ONLY DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED BY THIS EMPLOYEE.
