JOB SUMMARY

Performs premium audits on commercial lines subject to audit policies to verify appropriate classifications, exposures and basis of premium calculations. Completes audits by reviewing policyholder financial records, including federal and state quarterly tax returns, payroll records, financial statements and general ledger. Consults with policyholders regarding business practices and staff duties, and explains various aspects of audit information gathered, such as change in exposure, premium or operations.

Essential Functions:

Within the designated territory, meets with the insureds at their place of business to accurately audit exposures for Worker's Compensation, General Liability, and Garage policies.Completes audits by reviewing policyholder financial records, including federal and state quarterly tax returns, payroll records, financial statements and general ledger.Determines correct exposures and classifications for use in audit process by applying knowledge of National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), International Standards Organization (ISO) and other audit-related publications.Reviews, inspects, and investigates any aspect of the business necessary to verify premium information.Prepares detailed reports of audit findings and submits to corporate office.Provides description of insured's business operations to assist underwriter in risk assessment and insurance fraud discussions.Resolves any audit dispute through review and research. Performs some mail or telephone audits.Completes audit summaries by entering payroll records, quarterly statements, receipts, etc. and adjusting the insured's bill. Schedules future audits and selects travel routes.Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business or equivalent work experienceCandidates that meet the below requirements will be considers for the Senior Premium Auditor:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, insurance or related business field or equivalent relevant experienceFive years of experience in premium auditAssociate in Premium Auditing (APA) designation preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong math and accounting aptitude with attention to detailKnowledge of property and casualty insurance industry and applicable Workers' Compensation regulations and classifications preferredAbility to analyze, research and resolve audit issuesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work independently as well as with others under minimal supervision neededAbility to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlinesTravel required; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling
