CNBC Make It is looking for a talented Lead Animator to join its expanding video team based in NYC. CNBC Make It is a fast-growing, consumer-friendly section of CNBC, devoted to aspirational content about entrepreneurship, leadership, careers, and money. The Lead Animator will design and execute original animations and motion graphics for CNBC Make It’s short-form documentaries, social media platforms, interviews and explainers. The ideal candidate has proven design and animation skill and is comfortable working in a multi-platform digital production environment. Collaboration with animators, producers, editors, and the social team is essential.

What you will do:

Work creatively to produce original and aesthetically pleasing designs, animations and title sequences

Collaborate with producers to create animations for original videos

Create and update motion graphics templates (mogrts)

Oversee and maintain brand guidelines across video and graphic design initiatives

Support and mentor other animators

Lead strategy and execute social media assets like thumbnails

Design and animate charts, maps and documents

Design promotional graphics for the Smarter by CNBC Make It online courses initiative

Bring titles and text to life in a highly visual and impactful way

Meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

5+ years of experience producing animations

Expert understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (specifically After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop) and applicable plugins

Expertise in creating and maintaining templates and brand guidelines

Ability to create error-free 2D/3D animations and motion graphics from a script

Ability to illustrate original concepts when vectors and footage are not available

Ability to express data in visually engaging ways for a mass audience

A portfolio or reel showcasing expertise in animation, graphic design, motion design, typography, illustration and storytelling across various platforms

Expertise in fact-checking and consistently delivering error-free work.

Strong leadership skills, including motivating others, effective delegation and delivering and receiving feedback gracefully

Social media savvy with experience creating content for platforms

Desired Characteristics:

Detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines

General knowledge of current events, business news and financial markets.

Strong teamwork and work ethic

Strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for new content and strategies

Proven news judgement and high ethical standards

Willingness to work non-traditional hours and weekends

Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $95,000-$120,000
