Summary This announcement has been updated to extend the closing date This position is in the Property Management Division within Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that durable medical equipment (DME) is distributed to Veterans and services serviced by PSAS. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Receives and catalogues incoming durable medical equipment (DME) orders in the electronic health record management (EHRM) system. Notifies requesting providers/clinicians and delivers DME when appropriate to provider/clinician. Interacts with clinical and administrative customers to ensure issues and needs are identified and either resolved or escalated to supervisors or requesting providers/clinicians as needed. Communicates to the lead or supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment, and procedures, providing information as needed orally or in writing regarding customer or external stakeholder issues, general telephone inquiries and visitor referrals. Reviews numerous computer output listings in the performance of research and identification of supplies as well as prepares system inquires and interpret the responses. Receives non-expendable equipment and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. Unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons and properly and stores supplies and material. Stores items in accordance with established guidelines, utilizing a computerized inventory system, to ensure integrity of the supplies and material and the data integrity of the inventory management system. Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized system of record systems. Delivers equipment in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring equipment and material delivered are in operational condition. Processes receipt and turn-in transaction to record in the equipment system of record and account for incoming DME. Assists in other functional areas of the Section, and performs other duties, as needed. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower level of Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience includes: providing equipment to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; receiving, storing and distributing medical equipment; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials. EDUCATION: Successful completion of four (4) years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. If you qualify by a combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs, for example, when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items or conducting physical inventories in warehouses, and other storage areas, or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.
