General Definition of Work: Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work providing a variety of secretarial and clerical support in an office environment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assistant school principal and principal.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.)Serves as primary clerical support to the principal and staff.Answers telephone; meets the public; acts as information specialist to public and faculty regarding a variety of matters related to school operations and policies.Prepares, maintains and submits semi-monthly timekeeping reports to Payroll.Coordinates daily substitute/classroom coverage.Assists in the preparation and distribution of flyers, informational material and newsletters.Types letters, memos, reports, bulletins, requisitions, schedules, manuals, student files, records, etc.Maintains and distributes student lockers and facility keys.Collects information for newsletter; prints labels for newsletter.Posts a variety of information or standardized sources to various styles of control records.Composes and types letters and memoranda in conformance with school policies and from brief instructions.Monitors office traffic, issues passes for early and late arrivals.Oversees office equipment maintenance; maintains fire drill logs.Requisitions office supplies, textbooks, and instructional materials; maintains inventory of supplies, textbooks and instructional materials.Maintains various manuals and computer school, pupil, teacher and program files.Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of school system routine, personnel procedures, policies and record keeping; general knowledge of basic first aid; practices skill in the use of computer equipment and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment; ability to develop and follow details work procedures; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and the general public.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and moderate experience providing office support or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate driver's license may be required.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to maintain a cordial and effective relationship with visitors and clients. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information. Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages as needed; may require ability to utilize principles of fractions and/or interpret graphs as needed. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work at the work site daily, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination; Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; Most tasks require oral communications ability. Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, playground, classroom, light traffic).
