ProfessionalPosition Overview:The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is the most influential voice for manufacturing in the U.S., representing some of the world’s most recognized brands. Join our award-winning Brand Strategy team as Director, Executive Communications and Speechwriter, a pivotal role in driving our advocacy and communications at the highest levels. This is a unique opportunity to be the primary speechwriter for NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons, Manufacturing Institute (NAM’s workforce development affiliate) President and Executive Director Carolyn Lee and key senior leaders across NAM. You’ll also develop communications for member company CEOs and C-suite executives who champion the NAM’s policy priorities, positioning NAM as a leader in advancing U.S. competitiveness.As an integral member of the team, you’ll craft messaging that influences and resonates with NAM members, policymakers, media and the public. This role requires versatility, as you will write in diverse styles and tones across print, digital and live platforms, ensuring that the NAM’s cohesive voice is clear and compelling. In addition, you’ll have the flexibility to enhance NAM’s communications strategy by refining processes, implementing research and coordinating efforts across teams.Join the NAM and Make an Impact in the Following Ways:Lead Executive Communications:
Serve as the portfolio manager for the Executive Communications team, ensuring consistent, high-quality messaging across all executive platforms.Be the Voice Behind NAM Leadership:
Write and edit speeches, articles, op-eds, blogs, testimonies, reports, newsletters and other communications for NAM’s top executives and member ambassadors.Manage High-Profile Projects:
Collaborate with colleagues and manage timelines to meet production deadlines for high-impact, creative products.Shape Policy Narratives:
Act as the messaging lead for key policy issues and portfolios, translating complex topics into clear, persuasive communications.Adapt to Dynamic Needs:
Balance short-notice requests with strategic, long-term projects in a fast-paced environment, meeting stringent deadlines.Elevate the NAM’s Brand:
Support brand consistency across all communications and serve as a trusted advisor on tone, objectives and audience-specific messaging.Leverage New Media:
Engage across new media platforms to broaden the reach and impact of NAM’s messaging.Create Executive Visibility Opportunities:
Identify and develop strategic visibility opportunities for NAM executives, partnering with Economic Clubs and similar high-profile venues across the country to enhance NAM’s influence and reach.Supervisory Responsibilities:
In select cases, manage outside vendors and agencies supporting executive communications and brand strategy at the NAM.We are looking for Team Players who meet the Following Criteria:Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or related field.Five or more years of work experience in speechwriting or related communications field.Significant experience preparing a variety of written materials of varying topics and styles for diverse audiences.Experience that demonstrates excellent writing, proofing, editing, research and project-management skills.Advanced knowledge of business, American government and public policy.Ability to work with a broad cross-section of the organization.Ability to work under tight deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.Digital publishing experience a plus.Salary Range:
$106,000 – $140,000 annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.Equal Opportunity Employer:
