As a Navian Hawaii member, you will provide support for those who guide patients and their family on their journey, delivering comfort and support with a caring heart, replacing fear with hope, helping them find the beauty and joy in every moment, and providing each person with the kindness and dignity they deserve.Position Summary:The Director of Finance is a key member of the leadership team responsible for management of financial services including financial accounting, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, cost containment, account reconciliation and profit & loss reporting. The Director of Finance oversees all accounting activities related to income auditing, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable collections, tax compliance and payroll, insurance credentialing and renewals and procurement and facilities oversight.Primary Responsibilities:Protecting assets through effective internal controls, internal auditing and direct supervision of financial operationsDirecting the management of all accounting information systems including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting and statistical reporting systemsContribute to company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business driversEnsure maximum third party reimbursement through efficient billing and collections, effective accounts receivable management and thorough understanding of cost reimbursement principlesEnsure proper utilization of resource control of cash disbursements through an effective accounts payable systemPrepare periodic financial statements for internal users, authorized third parties and regulatory agencies on an on-going basisEvaluating financial provisions of proposed contract and agreements for provision of services to optimize financial viability of the agreements.Gathering, collating, and reporting key operating statistics through the effective utilization of information systemsPreparing the annual Medicare cost report, and serving as the agency liaison to the Medicare fiscal intermediaryDeveloping the annual budget, monitoring allocation of funds within budgetary limitations, and preparing budget variation reports for the review and approval of the CEO, Finance Committee, and Board of DirectorsWorks with insurance providers on credentialing and renewalsOversight of cost containment, procurement and facility maintenanceEducating and mentoring members of the Leadership Team on the fundamentals of finance and accounting in order to assist the leaders in their knowledge of effective financial managementActing as the financial liaison to the Board of Directors and attends meetings as requested by the CEOProfessional RelationshipsForm a close working relationship with the President and Chief Executive Officer and other Directors.Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including customers and advisorsActively develops and maintains long-term, beneficial collaborative peer relationships.Program DevelopmentActively engages in the development of programs within Navian Hawaii in order to accomplish strategic objectives or other desired goals of the organization.Actively engaged in Navian Hawaii's quality improvement program.AdministrationAssists in the development of personnel policies and monitors compliance in areas of responsibility. Participates in developing and revising written Finance Department objectives and procedures.Responsible for supporting compliance with licensing and Medicare certification, including all rules and regulations from Chapter 94 and CMS, as applicable.Leadership ResponsibilitiesWorks in accordance with the Navian Hawaii values, and supports peers and subordinates to meet those values as well.Provides leadership, problem-solving, and management decision-making and demonstrates a commitment to quality and corporate accountability.Provide leadership to the Board's Finance Committee and provide accounting strategy, to optimize the company's financial performance and strategic position.Actively participates in staff and department meetings, staff training, and other related activities.Adheres to all company policies, procedures and regulations regarding conduct, safety, fire, security, risk management and personnel policies.Carries out duties and responsibilities of position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service.Expected to participate in the Performance Improvement Program and to comply with Federal and State regulations governing hospice programs, and to adhere to the organization's standards of conduct as a condition of continued employment.Demonstrates good judgment in seeking and accepting guidance, facilitates clear and honest communication with other team members.
