As the leader of the cloud engineering organization, we are looking for someone who can identify and drive the organization's long-term strategic vision, coordinate with cross-functional leaders, and deliver against an ambitious set of priorities.What you’ll be doing:Lead and grow multiple groups of engineers within the cloud engineering team.Advising leadership at the director+ level on technical strategy and tech teams' talent needs.Ensure org health and structure are optimal for the smooth execution against our goals.Ensure that best practices for engineering are adopted and followed.Drive strategic planning, vision setting, and establishing scalable processes for execution.Build and retain world-class engineering teams through mentorship and career development.Work with teams across Cruise to foster a collaborative testing, safety, and documentation culture.Pursue transformative technologies that enable us to support scaling and bring affordable productivity to bend the cost curve while driving significant change for cloud engineering.Guide the team to find the right balance between delivering impact and addressing technical debt.Help define, build, and embody Cruise engineering culture and principles.Relevant Technologies:GogRPCIstioKubernetesDockerContinuous DeliveryBuildkiteGCPOpenTelemetryWhat you must have:12+ years of total experience, ideally 5+ years of management experience.BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, or other technical field, or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.Prior experience managing, leading, and growing multiple teams and building strong organizations.Proven track record of shipping production-quality software for mission-critical or complex software products.Demonstrated experience thinking strategically with analytical and problem-solving experience.Experience managing container-based workloads using Kubernetes or other orchestration software.Ability to manage competing priorities, focus on shipping, and work well under pressure.Passion for self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world.Experience managing competing priorities with a focus on shipping and working effectively under pressure.Bonus Points!Experience working with GCP and AzureExperience owning or contributing to Open Source projectsThe salary range for this position is $171,400 - $252,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits.
