We have built a flexible and diverse work environment where new ideas are encouraged and everyone is a stakeholder.What you'll own and deliver:Control Architecture: You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of data security controls to protect sensitive data across Circle’s infrastructure, ensuring that our control architecture aligns with industry best practices and meets all compliance requirements, effectively safeguarding our data.Data Discovery: You will oversee the operation of data discovery solutions such as BigID or similar tools, successfully identifying and classifying sensitive data across all systems to ensure effective data governance.Collaboration with Engineering and Technology Teams:You will foster and maintain strong partnerships with engineering, TechOps, and IT teams, seamlessly integrating security and data protection controls into development and operational workflows to enhance overall system security.Risk Management and Mitigation: You will identify and assess data security risks and vulnerabilities, develop and implement effective mitigation strategies, and consult on creative technical solutions that reduce risk and strengthen Circle's data security posture.Regulatory Compliance: You will ensure data protection activities comply with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations, achieving and maintaining regulatory compliance, assisting in compliance audits and reporting, and implementing necessary controls to meet regulatory requirements.You will aspire to our four core values:Multistakeholder:You have dedication and commitment to our customers, shareholders, employees and families and local communities.Mindful: You seek to be respectful, an active listener and to pay attention to detail.  Driven by Excellence:You are driven by our mission and our passion for customer success which means you relentlessly pursue excellence, that you do not tolerate mediocrity and you work intensely to achieve your goals. High Integrity:You seek open and honest communication, and you hold yourself to very high moral and ethical standards.  You reject manipulation, dishonesty and intolerance.What you'll bring to Circle:Experience: 5+ years in information security, with a strong focus on data protection, control architecture, and cloud security.Data Discovery Expertise: Experience with data discovery and scanning tools, ensuring data classification and governance processes are effectively implemented and maintained.Technical Skills: Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and hands-on expertise with security technologies such as encryption, DLP, access controls, and cloud security solutions.Collaboration Skills: Proven experience engaging cross-functional teams, including engineering, TechOps, IT, compliance, and legal, to integrate data security across the organization.Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of data protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and experience with implementing compliance-driven security controls.Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze risks, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend appropriate security controls and mitigation strategies.Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CIPT, CCSP, or similar) are preferred.Circle is on a mission to create an inclusive financial future, with transparency at our core.
