Job Description

A Japanese automotive supplier is seeking a Quality Manager.

Location: Auburn, AL

Salary: $70k-$85k

Workstyle: Onsite

Visa sponsorship considered for the right individual

The ideal candidate must have more than 7 years of QC or QA experience and more than 5 years of supervisory experience, and strong knowledge of IATF, AIAG, PPAP process, APQP, FMEA, Kaizen, Poke-yoke.

Summary:

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control system and programs designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Responsible for maintaining QS certification and implementation of IATF 16949:2016
Essential Performance Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Must understand and follow IATF16949 and AIAG Core Tools.
  • Must have ability to read and understand drawings instruction, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Interprets quality control philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Provides inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Works with Buyer and vendors to insure quality of purchased parts for company use.
  • Designs and implements quality control training programs.
  • Investigates customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Controls departmental budget; creating annual plan, maintain monthly budget.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
  • Observes safety and security procedures. Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • The ability to complete an assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness and must understand and follow all safety rules.
  • Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and others on Company premises.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Read and follow work instructions
  • Must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients, vendors and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and project goals.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Quality Control department.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education and/or Experience
  • BS in engineering with 7-10 years of experience as a QC or QA engineer; as well as at least 5 years experience in a direct management role.
  • Strong Knowledge of IATF, AIAG, PPAP process, APQP, FMEA, Kaizen, Poke-yoke.
  • Japanese language skill is a plus.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Working knowledge of processes and procedures typically utilized when manufacturing components for the automotive industry. PPAP, APQP, PFEMA, FEMA, IATF knowledge is required.
