As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accounting Specialist to join our team, in support of a long-term government contract with NOAA. Responsibilities The Senior Accounting Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing a range of budgetary and financial operations. This role involves preparing, analyzing, and submitting complex invoices to the government for payment of goods and services, as well as managing various financial reports and analyses. The Senior Accounting Specialist will also review and approve purchase requests, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations. Duties of the Senior Accounting Specialist will include the following: Invoice Management: Prepare and submit detailed invoices to the government for payment, ensuring all supporting financial documentation is accurate and complete. Accruals and Cost Analysis: Review and submit monthly accruals for materials and subcontractor costs. Conduct and submit monthly Unbilled Cost Analysis and other direct cost reports to the corporate office. Cost Tracking: Monitor and track all costs related to contracts, including labor summary reports, travel reports, subcontractor reports, and summary reports. Financial Comparison: Perform financial and comparison analyses of invoice backup reports in relation to monthly customer invoices. Subcontractor Review: Evaluate subcontractor invoices for accurate usage of financial codes and cost accuracy. Approval Processes: Approve purchase requests (PRs) in the system after analyzing the consumable inventory spreadsheet for funding. Validate purchase card usage by checking financial codes. Data Management: Conduct weekly data collection and evaluation to clean the system of corrections and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare and review detailed monthly Estimates at Completion (EACs) for all contract lines for customers. Perform financial analysis through reporting and forecasting of orders, sales, and cash flow. Process Improvement: Attend monthly meetings with corporate finance management to review and propose improvements to the invoicing process. Quality Assurance: Maintain project charge numbers within the cost accounting system, ensuring quality assurance and accurate financial reporting. Qualifications The Ideal Senior Accounting Specialist will have the following: Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: 6 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a government contracting environment. Skills: Strong understanding of budgetary and financial operations. Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting. Experience with cost accounting systems and financial tracking. Ability to handle complex invoicing and financial documentation.
