Job Title: Concrete Laborer Company: City of Oak Ridge, TN Location: Oak Ridge, TN Salary: $17-20 per hour (Depending on Experience) Job Description: Join our team at the City of Oak Ridge, TN, as a Concrete Laborer and play a vital role in supporting concrete construction projects for municipal infrastructure. Responsibilities: Assist in preparing concrete mixtures and materials for pouring and shaping, ensuring adherence to project specifications. Help set up and dismantle formwork for concrete structures such as sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems, maintaining accuracy and alignment. Participate in concrete pouring activities, spread and level concrete, and finish surfaces using trowels and other tools as required. Install and secure steel reinforcement bars (rebar) according to engineering drawings and project plans. Operate heavy equipment such as concrete mixers, pumps, and compactors under supervision, ensuring safety and efficiency. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning tools, equipment, and job site after completion of tasks. Follow safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members. Work closely with construction crews, supervisors, engineers, and other laborers to meet project deadlines, quality standards, and budget requirements. Skills Developed: Proficiency in concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques. Experience in setting up and dismantling formwork for concrete structures. Knowledge of reinforcement installation and concrete curing processes. Familiarity with operating heavy equipment and machinery in a construction setting. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in alignment and leveling of concrete surfaces. Effective communication and teamwork skills, both within a construction team and with project stakeholders. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
