The Director of Brand Packaging for Boys Brands at MGA Entertainment will lead the strategic development, execution, and production of all packaging designs across global channels for Boys Brands. This role ensures consistent brand management and exceptional design quality, from initial concepts through to final production. The Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to align packaging with product, marketing, and sales objectives, driving creative solutions and ensuring all projects meet brand guidelines, budgetary requirements, and timelines.Essential Job FunctionsPackaging Strategy & Development : Lead the creative direction and production of all packaging materials for Boys Brands across domestic and international markets, ensuring alignment with global brand standards and consistency across touchpoints.Project Management & Coordination : Oversee the production and trafficking of packaging projects from conception to final press proof stage. Coordinate with marketing, product design, and sales teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of packaging assets.Cross-Functional Team Leadership : Lead cross-functional teams including graphic designers, copywriters, product designers, and project managers to deliver high-quality packaging that integrates seamlessly with overall brand strategy.Planogram & Retail Coordination : Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to manage and develop retail planogram information, ensuring all packaging meets retailer-specific requirements and deadlines.Vendor & Freelancer Management : Collaborate with external vendors and freelancers to obtain project estimates, manage outsourced projects, and ensure quality and timely completion of all packaging elements.Global Coordination : Work with MGA’s international teams (e.g., Poland, India, Mexico, and Hong Kong) to ensure packaging designs comply with local legal and regulatory requirements for final production execution.Quality Control & Approvals : Ensure the quality of all packaging designs and artwork. Lead approval processes, managing feedback loops, and ensuring final concepts are on-brand and meet technical requirements for global markets.Production Oversight for Events : Direct the creation of packaging and collateral materials for major events such as Toy Fairs, Road Shows, and retailer presentations, including the production of mock-up boxes, product boards, and showroom displays.Budget & Resource Management : Oversee project budgets, forecast expenses, and allocate resources effectively to ensure packaging projects are completed within budget and on time.QualificationsExperience : 5+ years of experience in packaging design and production within the toy, consumer goods, or retail industry, with a focus on boys’ brands or similar categories.Technical Skills : Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Strong knowledge of Mac OSX-based design workflows, color separations, printing processes, and prepress workflows.Leadership : Proven ability to lead creative and production teams, manage cross-functional projects, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate creative concepts and technical requirements.Attention to Detail : Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality packaging and brand consistency.Problem-Solving : Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot production issues, providing creative solutions to meet timelines and budget constraints.Desired SkillsExperience managing international packaging projects and knowledge of global regulatory requirements.Strong understanding of visual merchandising and retail packaging trends, with the ability to balance creative innovation with cost-effective production.Conflict management and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve issues in a collaborative manner.ReportingThis role reports to the Senior Vice President of Marketing for Boys Brands. The Director will work closely with teams across product development, marketing, sales, and global production offices.
