As a Software Engineer in Test, you will design and implement automated test infrastructure to validate our embedded software and hardware with a focus on our unique propulsion system. To succeed, you will develop a strong understanding of how our systems work and how to break them to ensure a high bar of quality for our embedded software systems.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) automated test infrastructure for our embedded systemsWork closely with software and system owners to develop deep understanding of how our systems workCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop testing coverage requirementsAuthor and execute test plans to ensure our embedded systems meet functional and safety requirementsRoot cause test failures and clearly document bugs for tracking purposesSupport development testing in the lab and in the fieldMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalentMinimum 5 years experience testing software/firmwareProven experience in embedded systems test infrastructureProficiency coding in C/C++Experience with test automation and continuous integrationIn-depth knowledge of CAN busExperience working on safety-critical systemsSelf-directed and motivated with the ability to work effectively in uncertain situationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with ISO26262 or similar functional safety standard in a different industryExperience debugging across communication protocols such as CAN, UART, etc.Experience working with HIL platforms like dSpace, Speedgoat, VeriStand, etc.Familiarity with Simulink and MATLAB for model-based HIL testingAbility to read electrical schematics and datasheetsProficient with basic lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering iron, etc.)Experience with test and automation frameworks (e.g. Jenkins, Pytest, TestRail, etc.)Experience working on high voltage and/or propulsion systemsBasic understanding of microprocessors and associated peripheralsExperience with startup or other small company environmentEquityLightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.$142,000 - $178,000 a yearEmployee Benefits & Philosophy - Applies to Full Time Employees only- Healthcare, Dental, Vision- 401k- Flexible Paid Time Off - that we actually want you to use!- 12 weeks paid parental leave- $2,000 per year towards an RV trip of your own &/or professional development opportunities - we call this a LightTripLightship offers all of its full time employees and their dependents full benefits including health, dental and vision insurance and covers 100% of the insurance premium.
