Job Description Sr Project Engineer Req Id: 10988 Job Location: Nashville Posting Start Date: 11/18/24 Work Environment: HybridJob PurposeProvide leadership, direction and capital project management for major capital projects/programs for the OSB business. Lead cross-functional project teams through activities associated with project development, engineering, procurement, contracting, installation, start-up and commissioning within the framework of approved scope, schedule and budget.In this position you will have the opportunity to:Provide leadership regarding the planning and execution of major capital projects or technology programs, including: technical feasibility evaluations, detailed engineering design, procurement efforts, negotiating, contract development & management, contracting strategy, installation, startup support and commissioning.Lead and coordinate external engineering and equipment supply firms as required for the safe, cost effective, and on-time execution of medium to large capital projects. Build a direct and indirect internal team to achieve goals.Oversee development of project scopes, budgets and schedules. Manage performance against approved versions.Ensure all project activities are executed in accordance with company and functional policies, procedures and methods.Establish and manage a project document control system that is consistent with functional methods and procedures.Review all engineering to ensure compliance with LP’s design standards, industry & professional standards, local, state and federal codes and regulations.Conduct benchmarking and competitive research to keep up with best-of-class practices and to assure that our corporate process technology and capital productivity lead the industry.Assume responsibility for personal safety and for the safety performance of all personnel, projects and programs managed.Maintain Engineering records according to engineering procedures and corporate Records Retention Guidelines.Conduct special projects/studies, as opportunities arise, relating to technology and capital effectiveness.What do I need to be successful?Skills, knowledge, abilities:Strong leadership skills.Able to represent strategic capital investments to senior leadership.Ability to engender confidence and work effectively across multiple interfaces and organizational lines.Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.Excellent collaboration skills.Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.Thorough knowledge of effective management and supervisory methods.Skill in supervising and coaching employees.Skill in budget development and management.Ability to influence outcomes in environments of competing priorities without direct authority.Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects.Experience:Minimum 7-10 years’ engineering experience with in-depth experience in project managementDemonstrated experience in delivering mid to large complex engineering projects to successful completion.Demonstrated experience in leading large/complex cross functional capital project teams.Proven/demonstrated ability to provide leadership and clarity to personnel and organization both internally and externally.EducationBS/MS in EngineeringFundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or Professional Engineering (PE) license is of interestWork EnvironmentHybrid Work or Remote Schedule availableModerate to Heavy Travel required to Mill facilities for the execution of capital projects and outage support.We are committed to providing resources and solutions that help build a better world for every LP team member.
