We're fully remote, with team members across the U.S.About the Role:We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our legal team as Assistant General Counsel, Commercial (AGCC). The AGCC will be embedded with our business development and marketing teams to assess counterparty risk, negotiate deals, review contracts, create form agreements for various types of transactions, and advise on communications and content – all while ensuring compliance with an evolving global regulatory framework. The AGCC will work closely with the General Counsel to review and update legal strategies for commercial transactions and marketing content, and then lead the implementation of these strategies. This role requires an individual who has a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for companies operating in the blockchain industry, and who thrives in ambiguity.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement legal strategies that align with the company’s objectivesProvide guidance, advice and support on transactions with partners, customers, and vendors, from deal ideation through contract negotiation, execution and post-execution contract managementDiligence potential partners, customers and vendors to assess and manage counterparty risksProvide guidance and advice on marketing, promotional, and public relations contentSupport new product developmentEnsure compliance with applicable laws and regulationsMonitor changes in relevant laws, regulations and enforcement activity that may be relevant to the company, providing updates and guidance where appropriatePrepare and deliver trainings on legal and compliance issuesEnhance legal operationsCoordinate with external legal counsel as neededQualifications:JD degree from an accredited U.S. law school.6-8+ years of transactional legal experience at a major law firm and/or a high-growth blockchain or fintech companyStrong knowledge of commercial transactions as well as securities, anti-money laundering, tax and other financial laws and regulationsDeep understanding of blockchain industry; knowledge of tokenization is a plusExcellent analytical, research, and writing skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWhat We Offer:Competitive compensation including salary, future token rights, and/or equity (according to your preferences) — we're well-funded and believe that great talent deserves great compensationFull benefits (medical, vision, and dental) and flexible vacation policy (PTO)Small remote-first team across many countries — you'll be an early team member helping shape our vision, culture, and design practicesA+ colleagues — our team includes alumni from: Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, Two Sigma, Bridgewater, SpaceX, AWS, Meta, Google, McKinsey, Circle, UniswapBest-in-class investors — we are proud to be backed by leading crypto experts and VCs, including Pantera Capital, Founders Fund and Coinbase Ventures
