The Credit Risk & Decision Science team within the Lending Analytics department is responsible for developing and implementing analytical solutions that drive changes to underwriting policies across Navy Federal Credit Union’s various lending products. This role will lead a team of data scientists who leverage analytics to define and monitor credit card account management strategies such as proactive line increase and reactive line increase to name a few. This will include developing and recommending test and control strategies to better understand cardholder behavior. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of managing analytical teams, will exhibit effective communication and analytical skills, and will possess strong leadership qualities.

Responsibilities
Oversee the development of underwriting, account management, and optimization models to optimize lending decisions for all lending products.Maintain in-depth knowledge of credit bureau data, tools and initiatives as well as newer advancements in machine learning and AI, industry trends, and analytical tools used by other leading financial organizations, and how they may be leveraged to improve Lending's credit decisions.Lead efforts to optimize business operation performance by analyzing current and forecasting future performance to support strategic initiatives.Maintain thorough knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and Navy Federal policies and procedures.Ensure our models and credit policies are minimizing the fair lending risk and are compliant.Manage and lead the simulation and optimization of credit policy decisions utilizing various profit/loss scenarios to ascertain current/future financial impact; make appropriate recommendations.Participate in organization-wide project teams; monitor projects assigned to the department and ensure milestones are completed on schedule.Assist with developing and implementing new/updated policies, procedures, goals and priorities as necessitated by demands, changing conditions, and/or management request.Leverage operations research techniques to optimize the performance of Lending's products and operations.Maintain understanding of business direction, environment and strategies and work closely with stakeholders to ensure analytic output addresses business needs.Assist with evaluating/developing/implementing analytical techniques and best practices to gain a competitive advantage.Manage, mentor, and develop analytical talent.
Qualifications
Significant experience in leading and managing an analytics operation in a large financial services organization to include operational and regulatory risks and controlsAdvanced knowledge of applicable federal and state, laws, rules and regulations that govern the functions of the Consumer/Credit Card LendingSignificant experience in the use of statistical modeling software and applicationsWorking knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products and servicesSignificant experience demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making, and creativity solving business problemsSignificant experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goalsSignificant experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendorsSignificant experience in delivering presentations to virtual and in person teamsSignificant experience supervising and leading professional employeesAdvanced research, data mining/querying, analysis, and reporting skills, including proficiency in sophisticated statistical methods, optimization modeling, forecasting, and cost/benefit/risk analysisExpert analytical/quantitative and deductive reasoning skillsAdvanced skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environmentAdvanced skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementationAdvanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiencesAdvanced organizational, planning and time management skillsAdvanced skill interacting with senior and executive managementAdvanced skill in producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives
