You will be chosen for one unit - this is not a float position between units. 

We are searching for motivated individuals to join our team! This requisition is for all openings within our Acute Care 5300or Acute Care 3200 positions.

We have positions available for Acute Care in the following departments:

  • Acute Care 3200 is a 24-bed medical-surgical telemetry unit that cares for a wide variety of medical and post-op patients to include short stay patients.  Although we are a women’s hospital, we care for both women and men in a compassionate, supportive, high-tech environment, utilizing protocols to enable both patient and staff safety.  Our post-op patients may be recovering from orthopedic, vascular, urological, gynecological, or bariatric surgeries. Due to the wide variety of services, we offer and medical conditions we see, 3200 is a great fit for graduate nurses and nurses seeking to build broad knowledge and/or gain new experience.

Acute Care 3200 is eligible for a Sign-On Bonus! 

  • Acute Care 5300 is a 28-bed medical-surgical unit that cares for a wide variety of medical and post-op patients and serves as Magee’s stepdown unit. We see an extremely diverse patient population, with ages ranging from 15-100+. Many patients receive insulin and/or Cardezim drips, and all the unit’s 28 beds are housed in private rooms, each hardwired for telemetry monitoring. Our post-op patients may be recovering from orthopedic, vascular, urological, gynecological, or bariatric surgeries; we also frequently receive overflow surgical patients who do not have beds available on their specialty unit. Due to the wide variety of services, we offer and medical conditions we see, 5300 is a great fit for graduate nurses and nurses seeking to build broad knowledge and/or gain new experience. 

What can you Expect as a Professional Staff Nurse?

The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Professional Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

 

As a Professional Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care and possess authority and accountability for its provision. At all times, you will exemplify a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Shifts/Hours: Our RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.

  • No previous experience required
  • No degree preference - ASN, BSN, MSN all welcome!

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • UPMC approved national certification preferred.
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
