Physician - Section Head of Pediatric Palliative Care

Ochsner Health is seeking an experienced, board-certified, Pediatric Palliative Care Physician for an exciting opportunity to serve as Section Head of Pediatric Palliative Care at Ochsner Childrens Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will join an established pediatric palliative care program within Ochsner Healths regional health system, the largest not-for-profit academic health system in the Gulf South.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Clinical Care
Provide inpatient and outpatient palliative care services for children.
Partner with medical, surgical, and mental health colleagues to serve children in multidisciplinary programs, including solid organ and stem cell transplantation, oncology, and cardiovascular diseases.
Teaching and Research
Teach medical students, residents, and allied health students.
Clinical research opportunities abound for qualified candidates.
Academic appointment commensurate with experience.
Our comprehensive Pediatrics Program including primary care pediatricians and pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists (Ochsner Childrens) represents over 230 physicians. The group is the regions leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric complex specialty services including congenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation, liver and bone marrow transplantation, a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group, and the regions only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental center.
We recently announced the building of a new separate, comprehensive, dedicated Childrens Hospital on our main campus, with expected opening in 2027.
We currently care for patients in an expanding 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, and full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams.
In addition to patient care, Ochsner Childrens Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana recently announced an agreement to establish a joint College of Medicine.

Ochsner also maintains 28 primary care locations across southern Louisiana and 30 subspecialty locations (Including the Shaquille ONeal Pediatric Super Clinic in Baton Rouge); and the Boh Center for Child Development, a dedicated multidisciplinary developmental pediatrics center.
