About the Job

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Engineer, PE to join our collaborative team in Orlando, FL. This role will focus on providing electrical engineering consulting and project management services for a variety of federal projects, including VA Medical Centers and Hospitals. You will be an integral part of a dynamic team, working on projects that have a direct positive impact on our communities. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the full lifecycle of challenging and rewarding projects, from initial concept through construction and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis:
    • Analyze and design electrical systems for various facilities, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems.
    • Using REVIT, develop detailed design drawings and construction documents, including one-line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment layouts, and wiring diagrams.
    • Perform calculations for electrical loads, voltage drops, short circuit currents, and other relevant parameters.
    • Size and specify electrical equipment, such as transformers, generators, switchgear, and lighting fixtures.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards, including National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead the electrical design team on federal projects, including VA medical centers and hospitals.
    • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, gather information, and provide construction support.
    • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Effective collaboration with other disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, and architectural, is essential to ensuring integrated design solutions.
    • Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings.
    • Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and support.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal design standards and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience in the design of electrical systems for buildings.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida (or a current NCEES record to obtain a Florida license).
  • Experience working on federal projects, particularly VA medical centers and hospitals, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
