Job Description

The Employee Relations Specialist will work in partnership with the Employee Relations Manager and will be responsible for creating, fostering, and maintaining positive work relationships between the City of Laredo and its employees. This person will be engaged in supporting all City of Laredo employees through a variety of activities that include, providing guidance and support on policies and procedures; collaborate with various departments to facilitate conflict resolution; and assist in the development and implementation of training programs.

Resolves complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations for working condition complaints, disciplinary actions, EEO complaints, appeals, and grievances.

Analyzes trends and metrics to assist in develop solutions, programs, and policies for department(s).

Provides guidance and input on departmental business unit reorganizations, workforce planning, succession planning and other related matters.

Manages relationships with departments by setting expectations, communicating project status and issues, resolving concerns, analyzing issues, preparing reports, and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
