Responsibilities You will perform a variety of functions in the operations and preventive maintenance of a primary electrical source system. You will operate alternating current and direct current switchboards to control and distribute electrical power thought the primary distribution system. You will perform inspections and maintenance on distribution transformers, circuit breakers, bus work, switches, electrical instrumentation, and related equipment rated up to 34.5 kV. You will follow safety guidelines and practices in performing trades related work. You will analyze a variety of interrelated meter indications to detect abnormal conditions such as circuit overloads, improper line voltages, and temperature. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Distributing and controlling electrical distribution systems; 2) Operating switchboards to remotely control circuit breakers, transformers and switches in order to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the distribution lines; 3) Interpreting operating instructions and distribution equipment operating criteria to determine when to adjust the taps on a transformer in order to maintain voltage on the feeder.
