Your Title: Software Test Engineer - Control Systems Job Location: Westminster, CO Our Department: Trimble AgIS
Are you interested in identifying and delivering disruptive cutting-edge vehicle system technologies?
What You Will Do You will be joining the core team developing advanced motion control systems of off-highway industrial machinery in the agriculture and construction industries, such as tractors, harvesters, dozers, excavators, etc . The work will include developing automated testing tools, scripts, and procedures to evaluate and validate the performance and quality of the code the team develops. You will support the development team with in field data collection required to aid with control system software and tools development as well as for use in your software testing efforts.
Assist the transition of testing from on-vehicle to HIL/SIL/MIL simulation environments in order to expedite development speed, improve quality, and reduce operating costs.
Develop and execute test plans/procedures at all levels of test: MIL/SIL, HIL and On-vehicle.
Help stand-up a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testbench and create HIL test procedures
Write model-/software-in-the-loop (MIL/SIL) test cases to improve overall test coverage
Conduct on-vehicle testing for plant model validation/development and to support RCCA analysis of difficult software functional and performance issues.
Collect vehicle data logs following rigorous test methodologies.
Develop data analysis scripts that present result in a clear, concise manner that enables developers to quickly understand your conclusions (issue, performance baseline, etc)
Working with C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink or other scripting languages to get the job done
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
5+ years with control system test experience for dynamic physical systems (e.g. ground vehicles)
Bachelor, Masters or higher Engineering degree is required in a related field such as Computer Engineering/Science, Robotics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering
Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink tools as well as scripting languages such as Python
Extensive experience with test, verification, validation and productization of algorithms
Strong experience with data collection and organization
Familiarity with data statistics and probability theory
Ability to travel (including international) up to 25% per year
Works closely with stakeholders and the development team to identify testing and validation requirement and objectives; drives to continuously improve testing workflows and processes
Effective analytical and problem solving skills
Effectively interact with a global team with excellent communication and documentation skills
Have problem-solving and time management skills with motivation and ability to work autonomously
Experience with J1939 or NMEA2000 CAN Communication
What Skills & Experience You Could Bring
12+ years of applicable work experience
Practical controls experience, in off-highway, automotive, aerospace or related
HIL and SIL testing, including familiarity with HIL testbench HW/SW (e.g. NI Veristand)
GNSS+IMU based navigation
Autonomous/Semi-autonomous vehicle control
Experience in safety-critical software development and familiarity with certification processes
Familiarity with testing tools and instrumentation sensors, e.g. potentiometers, hall effect sensors, accelerometers
Proficiency in effective test suite writing, demonstrating the ability to design comprehensive tests that maximize coverage and efficiency.
