Savannah Country Day School is hiring a School Bus Driver (CDL required) to support our school bus routes, field trips, and athletic travel.

As an SCDS School Bus Driver, you will ensure the safety and well-being of our students during transportation to and from school.

Our School Bus Drivers are a vital part of creating a positive experience for our students each and every day.

This position is considered full-time and is eligible for benefits, to include health insurance, and retirement.

SCDS guarantees 6-hours per day for school days, with the regular route times being 6:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Drivers are free during the day to pursue personal activities, unless an additional trip is scheduled. The SCDS School Bus Drivers are regularly offered additional trips, to support student travel for field trips, Junior Varsity and Varsity athletic travel.

Optional weekend work is occasionally available.

School Bus Drivers typically do not work summer or school holidays, receive paid vacation and sixteen (16) paid holidays per calendar year.

Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Safely and reliably operates school buses, following the laws of Georgia and policies prescribed by the school.

Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of buses as required by department regulations.

Manages and maintains a safe and respectful environment for students.

Maintains cordial and professional rapport with parents, administrators, other employees, and the general public.

Demonstrates prompt and reliable attendance.

Attends required training meetings, orientation, and safety meetings as requested.

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid Georgia CDL Class B license with S and P endorsements.

Three (3) or more years’ professional driving experience is strongly preferred.

Must have a positive attitude and the flexibility to shift priorities as needed.

Knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures is required.

Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions is a must.

Strong time management and organizational skills are required.

Technology skills are required to clock in and out via computer, read and respond to text messages and company-provided email.

Physical Demands:Work requires intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. Sufficient range of motion is required to steer, shift, maneuver, and safely operate School Bus.

The employee frequently lifts light to medium weight objects, up to 50LBS.

Work is performed in campus buildings, vehicles, and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather.

The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible.

The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical wiring.

This position is subject to DOT physical evaluation, as well as pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
