Position Title: Production Worker
Department: Tempering/ Cutting/ IG
Reports To: Department Supervisor
Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Job Summary
We are currently looking for
1st Shift
Production Workers
for our glass manufacturing facility in the Park 100 area of Indianapolis, IN. This position requires that glass be moved from one position/location to another in an effort to expedite the product throughout the plant.Primary duties are to efficiently load/unload glass, inspect material for quality, and properly sort glass to the appropriate racks. Must be physically capable of routinely lifting up to 75 lbs.
First shift hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm .These positions may have daily or weekend overtime as dictated by the production schedule. We are looking for hard workers who want to grow and develop with us.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
On/off-loading of glass product from, tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates. Utilize a tape measure to ensure product is within the product specifications Transport materials, including glass, from one position/location to another Break away excess glass by hand and/or with glass pliers Identification, sourcing, and placement of materials in carts/racks as preparation for another department's usage Read and attach appropriate labels and tags to products and packages Quality inspection of product for any abnormalities and log results Maintain a safe and clean work area Regular and predictable attendance including overtime The "team concept" instituted for shop floor production workers requires each worker to perform different functions on a rotating basis Safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production All other duties as assigned by supervisor Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements
To be considered for a Production Laborer position, the following conditions must be met:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Previous work experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or production facility Ability to read, understand, and communicate paperwork and labels Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills Must be able to work overtime as needed Work Environment
Work performed inside a production environment. Noise levels in the work environment can be moderate to high. The shop floor working environment is subject to unusually warm temperatures during the summer months due to the heat generated by the glass tempering furnaces.
