Position Summary
Ryan Specialty is looking for a Pricing Actuarial Director to join our Chicago-based team. What will your job entail?
Essential Functions:
* Responsible for developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally* Leading projects and initiatives* Recruitment, development, and training of colleagues, as needed.* Ongoing responsibility for:* Strategic analyses and business partnership to help business units achieve target loss ratios, including underwriting improvement plans.* Produce and communicate regular portfolio management analytics to business units.* Pricing and Rating tool development for new programs. Maintenance and improvement of pricing and rating tools for existing programs.* Develop tools for identifying and monitoring aggregation of coverage for certain classes or specific exposures.* Product development - industry, peer, and market analyses to support new initiatives.* Participate in initiatives to enable standardization and automation across data and reporting.* Support initiatives to drive strategy around the use of technology, external data, and the collection and organization of enterprise data.* Liaise with carrier partners on matters of program and portfolio underwriting performance* Other relevant duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, statistics, economics or related field* 7+ years of experience* Fellow or Associate of Casualty Actuarial Society* Experience in leading projects across multiple functions* Experience in leading relationships with business units to identify and deliver to their pricing actuarial needs.* Ability to work independently to solve complex challenges, such as to develop underwriting improvement plans and develop new rating plans.* Excellent technical aptitude, including:* Actuarial skills - expertise in pricing and reserving / profitability analyses* Experience with catastrophe modeling and/or predictive analytics considered a plus* Proficient with data manipulation, analytics, modeling, and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Alteryx, MS Office, Power BI, Tableau, R, Python)
* Commercial lines experience strongly preferred.* Robust knowledge of the insurance industry, especially the specialty, commercial, and/or reinsurance sectors.* Outstanding interpersonal skills (written and verbal)* Committed team player, client-focused, highly-motivated* Strong attention to detail* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines* Ability to solve problems creatively by asking questions and exploring solutions* Willingness to get involved at all levels / all aspects of the process as necessary* May be required to have and maintain a valid driver's license.
