The position is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting planning, forecasting and inventory management. Responsibilities of the planning/purchasing position will include purchasing inventory and non-inventory items and services, working to reduce costs and improve processes, identifying and qualifying new vendors as well as performing ongoing vendor evaluations in accordance with QMS requirements. Works under general supervision. Although the location of the position is in Londonderry, NH, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.
This is a part time position. The hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00p.m. - 2:00p.m..
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
Purchasing (Daily purchasing, expediting, date and data management)Supporting Production Planner in inventory planning (Safety stock, forecast, build/order size)Vendor Relationship Management i.e. supplier agreements, visits, quality audits and supplier issues resolutionInitiating and participating in purchasing improvement and cost reduction programsGenerating special and periodic reports as required or directed
In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
Physical Activities:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics a plus)Proficient in MS Office (Particularly Excel and OutlookAbility to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, procedure manuals, routine reports and correspondence.Ability to create documents as part of process improvement
