JOB SUMMARY

The Outpatient Clinician functions as a member of the clinical team to carry out assignments relating to the application, intake, diagnosis, and therapeutic treatment of children and families referred to the clinic under the supervision of the designated Licensed Supervisor. The Outpatient Clinician provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy as indicated to assigned clients of the outpatient program while ensuring that all services are provided in an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive manner. They will promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the clinic and strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all clients, regardless of their background or identity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains an outpatient caseload as a member of the clinical team, to carry out assignments relating to application, intake, diagnosis, and treatment of children and families referred to the clinic.Completes all required intakes/assessments following clinical guidelines, policies for content, format and timeliness.Obtains appropriate and essential information during client intake.Establishes rapport with clients and obtains and documents the essential clinical data which is age, culturally and disability sensitive and specific.Interprets clinical data to establish and substantiate medical necessity and diagnosis.Develops treatment recommendations, case conceptualization and goals.Completes all required treatment plans following guidelines for content, format and timeliness.Applies assessment, evaluation and reassessment data to the formulation of treatment plans.Supports treatment planning process by incorporating the individual’s and their family’s strengths, barriers and needs into the plan components.Documents problem statements and treatment goals/objectives/ discharge plan that are written in clear and understandable language and includes client’s own perspective.Formulates measurable, achievable goals and objectives within the scope of treatment provided in collaboration with the client and their caregivers.Describes clinical modalities/interventions.Reassesses treatment effectiveness and adapts treatment plan as needed in collaboration with the individual client and their caregivers.Assesses for risk and in safety and completes risk assessment.Develops and documents appropriate safety plan.Conducts clinical case-management and coordination of care with pediatricians, school personnel and other providers in the community as applicable to client and family needs.Conducts behavioral health groups following guidelines and policies.Leads groups using effective group facilitation skills that promote participation and interaction among group members.Utilizes group process to develop insight, practice skills, and motivate client for change.Creates opportunities within the group, or through outside activities / assignments, to learn and practice new skills and/or behaviors related to group and individual goals.The Clinician is expected to maintain clinical records.Completes clinical documents in accordance with agency policy.Participates in routinely scheduled clinical supervisionAttend Case Review Teams, and clinical staff meetings as assigned.Maintains networking relationship with community service providers.Maintains ongoing professional developmentResponsible for other jobs that may be assigned by a Coordinator or Executive Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Social Work or mental health related field is required, as well as associate or professional licensure.Knowledge of Childhood DevelopmentProficiency in oral and written languagesWork as a team member with fellow co-workers and agency staff.Cultural sensitivity and understanding of special youth and family issues.Position requires ability to work independently, organize tasks, problem solve, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related field required, with eligibility for professional licensure within two years of hire. Current licensure requirements as outlined by the state law in each field.

CREDENTIALING

This person is credentialed to provide diagnostic and treatment services to children 0-18 and their families under the supervision of a Licensed Clinician
