Job Description:

Join our dynamic team as a Land Development Engineer and take the lead in transforming conceptual visions into tangible, sustainable developments. In this role, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of professionals to contribute to the development and creation of design plans and reports across various project types, such as commercial, retail, multifamily, mixed-use, and industrial. Your role includes conceptual site layout, utility design, roadway design, site grading, soil erosion and sedimentation control, floodplain studies, permitting, entitlement support, and more. Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate effectively with internal team members and external client personnelAttend client meetings, planning commission meetings, and city council meetingsReview compliance conditions of approval for subdivision improvements and proposed developments, making recommendations to the City EngineerManage projects from initiation to completion, acting as a project engineerUtilize Civil 3D Pipe Networks for stormwater, sanitary, and water mains design on-site development projectsConduct field assessments of existing infrastructure and oversee construction observationsPerform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modeling, including stormwater detention and water quality BMP designAssist with site grading, shop drawing review, and preparation of technical reports such as storm reports and SWPPPsAid in permit applications and prioritize project deadlinesReview and approve corrected plans and provide information on subdivision and site development program proceduresPrepare right-of-way descriptions and develop requirements for tract maps and land divisionsCoordinate work with engineers, contractors, architects, property owners, developers, and City staffConfer with stakeholders on project questions, revisions, and progressAssist with the issuance of encroachment permits for land development projectsPerform field inspections to ensure compliance with contract requirementsReview title reports, background deeds, map information, closure calculations, and conduct researchResearch publications and industry information sourcesPrepare special engineering studies and reportsAttend various staff and regional technical advisory meetingsProvide technical and professional assistance/support to other City departments and divisions, the Planning Commission, and the City Council as necessary.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year institution4+ years of experience with a PE licenseStrong grasp of local governmental codes and regulationsProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and project management softwareExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAbility to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusionsCapability to manage project schedules efficientlyWork effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environmentCoordinate activities with various City departments and agenciesConduct technical research, analyze problems, and make sound recommendationsRead, interpret, and apply technical material, laws, rules, regulations, and codesAdminister construction contracts effectivelyUnderstand technical drawings and specificationsPerform precise mathematical and engineering computationsUtilize computer technology in daily activitiesPrepare clear, concise, and logical written and oral reportsInterpret and apply City and Department policies, procedures, rules, and regulationsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholdersMeet physical requirements for assigned duties safelyFlexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when required
