Volt is immediately hiring for a Sr. Civil Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA.
As a Sr. Civil Engineer, you will work on diverse engineering projects. Our client is a fast-growing Midwest engineering environmental firm looking for a motivated Civil Engineer, who is eager to learn and work on everything from municipal engineering to environmental engineering projects. In this role, you will provide civil, municipal, land development, and/or environmental engineering services using prescribed methods. In addition, you will also:
Assign tasks and responsibilities to members of the team to ensure everything is completed on timeAssess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluations or methodologiesCarry out complex and/or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and proceduresCommunicate updates or problems, as well as provide guidance, assistance and support when necessaryCommunicate between management, team leaders, clients, and vendorsOversee diverse teams of people, give clear instructions, effectively managing the team’s performance, motivate, and keep up morale, particularly during busy periodsMonitor the compliance of the project to ensure that industry codes and practices are adhered to, quality assurance policies are followed, and performance standards are met.Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct engineering projects from initial conception to the schedule and final completionPlan and collaborate with designers and engineers to forecast budgets and timelines to assure projects are completed accurately, within budget, and to schedulePerform quality control checks throughout all stages of the schedule to ensure budgets are kept, deadlines are met, and the performance of the team is as it should beMaintain regular contact with clients / Business DevelopmentWork on complex projects that require independent study and responsible judgmentBuild relationships with existing and future clientsEffectively communicate complex ideas and technical concepts to co-workers and with clients on sensitive and complex mattersPerform work that involves non-conventional planning, investigations, surveys, and/or equipment with complex features for which there may not be precedencePrepare designs, reports, and complex calculationsOther duties and responsibilities as directed
This is a full-time, contingent opportunity.
Ideally, you’ll have a bachelor’s or master's degree in Civil Engineering, as well as:
6 or more years of progressive relevant experienceLicensed professional in area of practice and licensed in state of office locationBe a team player, working across departments to support firm goals.Speak and write well.Have strong analytical and organizational skills.Think strategically, finding and implementing improvements for the betterment of the firm.
Pay Rate: $33.65- $42.78 per hour
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
