Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist is highly regarded with an excellent track record in their current environment. This role is a combination of tactical and strategic HR initiatives. This position will provide day to day employee relations support to managers and employees, as well as drive business initiatives in assigned areas both at the site and across the U.S. and Canadian organization when needed. This role requires an active and engaged HR leader to support strategic human resource plans aligned with the needs of the business. They will identify opportunities for process improvements, and work across a broad range of HR responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have passion and energy and will be process oriented. The candidate will learn the business, partner with and support a variety of HR functions, and assist with specific social needs at the Corporate Headquarters.

The successful candidate must be an analytical, collaborative, and results oriented leader who can effectively build relationships and processes. This is a progressively responsible role.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Supports HR functions, programs, and performs various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Upholding Company policies and procedures; live our core values.
  • Create employee communications.
  • Responds to internal and external HR-related inquiries.
  • Produces global reports inclusive of data analysis, to assist with HR data analytics, compliance review, training and / or general HR activity.
  • Working in collaboration with the Recruiting Center of Excellence (COE). Assists in creating partnerships with universities, key recruitment channels, assist with job fairs, interviews and outreach.
  • Leads Corporate Office activities such as coordinating employee and fundraising events, summer picnic, year-end celebrations, United Way etc. Works in conjunction with other stakeholders to implement.
  • Assist with liaison activities supporting the corporate location including answering phones and being a point of contact for vendors.
  • Supports other HR departments as needed (payroll, benefits, recruiting, etc.).
  • Assists HR and Corporate Management with procedures as required such as legal/subpoena requests and ad-hoc requests.
  • May assist in global initiatives.
  • Other items as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in Business Management, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related field.
  • Preferred 3 - 5 years human resource experience in a manufacturing setting.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Proven experience as an HR coordinator or relevant human resources/administrative position.
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices.
  • Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, a plus).
  • Ability to work with ATS software (e.g., Workday, ApplicantPro a plus).
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships within the location and HR; ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and through written correspondence.
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality.
  • Flexible in nature and have a willingness to foster a transformative environment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude, especially during times of stress.

Business Acumen

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills with an eye for identifying process improvements.
  • Make sense of data coming from multiple directions and able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand how this role impacts cross functional teams and how this role is inter-connected.
  • Ability to collect data and keep organized to meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy as it relates to report data and timeliness of delivery.

Work Environment

  • Office setting with frequent trips out to the plant to engage with all location employees.
