We currently have an exciting full time career opportunity available to join the HKNC team as a Food Services Manager. The Food Services Manager will manage the entire food services operation for HKNC providing services to students, staff and guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the development and execution of function/program within his/her span of control in accordance with HKS’ Mission and Strategic Objectives. Specifically responsible for:

Responsible for the entire food service operation, i.e. food preparation and service, cleanliness of kitchen and dining area, ordering supplies etc.

Schedules all food services staff for proper coverage in order to provide the three meals daily to consumers year round, while maintaining a clean environment.

Directs and supervises the food service employees in proper and safe operation and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.

Instructs relief staff in food preparation and methods to be incorporated.

Responsible for the proper storage of all food items.

Maintain all food inventory records, determines necessary food supplies and orders all supplies as needed.

Supervises the Housekeeping Department and ensures the cleanliness and safety of HKNC buildings

Supervises the service of the breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.

Responds to DOH deficiencies and makes corrections as needed.

Approves for payment invoices on all food purchased.

Prepares menus which reflect variety and client preferences.

Maintains catalogues for: Nutritional Data Sheets, Cookbook/Recipes for Health Care Facilities, Food Nutritional Labels and Tested Quantities Recipes.

Maintains inventory of supplies e.g. uniforms, glassware, tableware, etc.

Interviews applicants for kitchen and housekeeping positions and recommends hiring/terminating employees.

Completes weekly time sheets for department, monthly budget summaries, meal census, standardized recipes and all other required documentation.

Maintains an annual in-service schedule for kitchen staff which meets agency, D.S.S. and Board of Health requirements.

Ensures that client work experience opportunities are available as recommended by the training team

Ensures client receives appropriate supervision while in the food services areas.

Must have ability to work weekends as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

AAS degree in hotel and/or restaurant management preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food services management. Experienced in preparing and serving food in quantities (institutional or commercial).

Experience in the methods of general cooking and baking, a general knowledge of food preparation, current prices of food dietetics, grades of food and meal scheduling and planning.
