Raytheon Vision Systems Mechanical Department in Raytheon Intelligence and Space seeks a Section Leader to manage the Mechanical Space Design group. The SL is responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 15 Engineering and Technical Support members that provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the bid, design, documentation, build, and integration of Space market focal plane hardware. The candidate oversees the mechanical engineering discipline supporting a variety of programs primarily in Goleta, California. Key interfaces will be with other sections across the Department/Center, other Engineering disciplines, as well as other functions in the programs supported by the section. The SL should be familiar with the design environment and documentation methods. This role is 80% hands-on technical contribution to programs and 20% functional team leadership. The SL shall be a highly motivated “self-starter” able to lead by example.

Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures in creation of technical data package work products, while working closely with program management and functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met.

Qualifications You Must HaveBachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering, Math, Science or related fieldMinimum of 15 years of experience in an engineering environmentExperience with design, assembly, and documentation of Space Market Focal Plane AssembliesEffective communication skills, including verbal and writtenExperience with Common PDM (or similar configuration management database) with knowledge of drawing release cycles (Engineering Review Board)Experience and ability to write technical documentationAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to work to a budget and provide statusExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter, able to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlinesExperience with documentation of electro-optical components and sub-systemsWorking knowledge of Creo modeling softwareAbility to lead teams through the development processDrive to mentor and grow team members

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
