Overview:

The Santa Fe New Mexican Printing Division (INK) is seeking a skilled Digital Press Operator to join our dynamic team. We have the largest printing facility in New Mexico, a wide range of products and a large customer base.

Located in the City Different, Santa Fe offers a lifestyle that appeals to those who appreciate outdoor activities, the arts and nationally renowned food. The New Mexican has been a part of Northern New Mexico and Santa Fe since 1849 and we keep growing and expanding how we provide services (not just news) throughout the state and the southwest.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining our brand new digital printing press (and the Ricoh we have been successfully using for 2 years), ensuring high-quality production standards; something we consistently win awards for and repeat customers. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional results in a fast-paced environment.

We now have the capability of creating a wide range of promotional materials, in addition to the multiple newspapers and periodicals. We print The Santa Fe New Mexican, the Taos News, the New York Times, the Albuquerque Journal and a number of daily and weekly publications.

We can print on paper, metal, cardboard, and more in large format and to fit in your pocket.

Duties:

Operate digital printing presses, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

Monitor the printing process to detect any issues or defects, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality.

Conduct routine maintenance on printing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Collaborate with the design team to understand project specifications and requirements.

Perform quality control checks throughout the production process to ensure consistency

and accuracy.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.

Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:

Graphic design principles and software - inDesign and Adobe Suite best.

Machining processes related to print production

Quality control measures in manufacturing

CNC operation for precision tasks

Print advertising processes

Prepress procedures for preparing files for print

Layout design for effective visual communication

Typography skills for selecting appropriate fonts and styles
