Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or G.E.D.2. Complete the seven (7) hours of Level I food service training3. Three (3) years experience in a food service program.

Reports to: School Nutrition Food Service Coordinator in collaboration with School Principal

Supervises: School Nutrition Food Service Assistant and Cafeteria/Lunchroom(Directly) Monitors

JOB GOAL: Manage an coordinate the day-to-day food service operations of an assigned school site; assure compliance with District, State and Federal requirements and laws regarding nutrition, sanitation, safety and record-keeping; assign, schedule, supervise, direct and evaluate assigned school nutrition food service personnel.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage, coordinate and oversee the day-to-day food service operations at an assigned school site; analyze effectiveness, assure compliance with District, State and Federal laws, regulations and safety, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and sanitation procedures.Work under the collaborative supervision of the school principal and School Nutrition Food Service Coordinator.Direct preparation of the daily menu, assuring compliance with regulations, requirements, and nutritional value; estimate and order amount of food and supplies needed; monitor and control expenditures; maintain assigned budget; plan maximum use of USDA Foods.Direct, assign, schedule and evaluate food service personnel; conduct on the job training for new employees.Inspect cafeteria and kitchen area daily to assure compliance with health, HACCP Standard Operating Procedures, safety and sanitation requirements and regulations.Post work schedules and coordinate daily work for efficient use of labor.Train and assist employee in the proper handling of foods, correct use and care of equipment and in maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety.Maintain, prepare and/or review menu production records, inventories, logs and reports; accumulate data and file documents as necessary.Supervise and participate in food preparation and distribution to district students and staff; plan for catered events such as meeting, activities and parties; plan and coordinate school nutrition food service operation with school activities to improve school and community relations and increase student participation.Uses school district's standard procedures, records, and forms to requisition and/or purchase food, supplies, repairs, and equipment.Collect all money for meals and ala carte items sold and make appropriate change; prepare and maintain daily and monthly computer reports showing meals/ala carte served and money collected, prepare bank deposit slips and take deposit to the bank for deposit on designated days. Maintain student accounts in point of sale system.Supervise the counting of money for cash drawers with appropriate amount and denominations of change for the next day.Keep a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions pertaining to the cafeteria account.Complete all assigned daily records and reports accurately and submit all required reports to the district central office in a timely manner.Maintain the security of the kitchen, equipment, food, and supplies at all times.Keep the principal and School Nutrition Food Service Coordinator informed of all personnel issues, absences, and emergencies.Keep students, teachers and parents informed of daily/weekly menus and the services provided by the school nutrition food service program.Attend the Site Based Decision Making Council, PTA and/or staff meetings as needed.Promote an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness with the entire school body, parents, and public.Participate in the district in service meeting and training programs of school nutrition food service personnel.Participate in area, state and national workshops and other professional growth activities as opportunities are made available. Each year obtain two hours of continuing education in applied nutrition and healthy meal planning and preparation.Must obtain Level 1 certification within two years of employment in the position. After Level 1 certification, work to maintain the certification with additional training as needed.Know procedures for training workers in the use and operation of fire extinguisher and hood fire suppression system.Attend annual training on the proper techniques for physical demands to reduce on the job injury and work with staff on implementing these techniques.Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
