Summary:

Within the Office of Advancement, the Development Coordinator provides overall administrative support to the Assistant Vice President and the Assistant Dean of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences. The Development Coordinator is responsible for the management and execution of advancement activities and related events. The Development Coordinator will also serve as a liaison to the Office of Campaign Engagement on regular recognition and engagement of current donors. In addition, the Development Coordinator assists the AVP and the Assistant Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, by providing research on donors and prospects in preparation for meetings, as well as for campaign and event briefings.

1.) Administrative Support

Provide administrative support to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement and the Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, including coordinating travel arrangements, research for high level donors and prospects, coordinating the creation of briefing materials, submitting travel reconciliations, and maintaining calendar schedules.Generate gift acknowledgements on behalf of the AVP and Assistant Dean of CAS and provide notification of new gifts to appropriate offices and department heads, and monthly gift reports to select departments.2.) Strategic Event Planning and Execution

The Development Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of advancement centric strategic high-level special events on behalf of the Assistant Vice President and the College of Arts and Sciences.This includes, but is not limited to the Volunteer Leadership Summit, board and council related activities, campaign activities and beyond.For these events, the Development Coordinator will assist in planning, execution as well as establish who the top attending prospects are and create research profiles on these individuals for the Assistant Vice President and leadership more broadly.3.) Solicitation and Stewardship

Serve as liaison between schools on behalf of the Assistant Vice President and main campus.Under the Assistant Vice President, serve as liaison with and coordinate targeted solicitations for annual gifts, follow up on solicitations, maintain active stewardship of current donors, and support the Advancement office in managing prospect portfolios to the point of gift solicitation.In accordance with Advancement communication plans, fulfill alumni and donor list requests from non-Development units to ensure data integrity, proper use of donor lists, and adherence to standards set by the Advancement office.4.) Board Support

Provide support and stewardship for the CAS Advisory Board and assist in the execution of bi-annual board meetings as well as campaign support and planning.This position will coordinate meeting logistics, prepare needed materials necessary, keep and track minutes for meetings, and distribute new member packets, letters, and welcome packets as new members join.This position will also ensure all promotional materials are up to date and will coordinate material creation with the appropriate parties in preparation for the overall campaign.5.) Other duties as needed or assigned by Assistant Vice President.

$50,000-$55,000 annually.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-Time.35 hours per week.Periodic night and weekend work required..Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.1-3 years of relevant experience.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.Preferred Education and Experience:

2-4 years of relevant experience.Familiarity with Ellucian CRM Advance, knowledge of gift processing procedures, research, and data management is required.Knowledge of American University's College of Arts and Sciences programs, professors, and alumni/-ae is preferred.Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

A successful candidate must demonstrate a strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and the ability to analyze and articulate reasons for giving.Benefits
