Job Title:
Commodity Accountant II (Power)Location:
Houston, Texas
Key Responsibilities:Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare entries to general ledger accounts.Perform daily and monthly settlements with bilateral counterparties for power and associated commercial revenue hedge products.Engage with scheduling, deal capture, legal, trading, commercial managers, and plant managers to ensure accurate recording of deals and contractual terms in ETRM and ERP systems.Validate billing inputs and calculations, including structured contract inputs such as indices, inflators, and plant operations-related inputs.Reconcile the Allegro Trading system with PeopleSoft 9.1 financials for monthly income statements.Conduct monthly trend analysis and reporting for assigned plants, explaining variances.Complete gross margin analysis to ensure accurate profit and loss presentation in the general ledger.Support cash management through timely preparation and analysis of invoices and payments.Maintain professional relationships with counterparty contacts and internal teams to ensure timely settlement and collection.Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.Collaborate with auditors on financial statements for special projects.Utilize PeopleSoft 9.1 accounting software; experience with Allegro Trading System is a plus.Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting.1-3 years of related experience; CPA preferred.Strong accounting knowledge and experience in finance/accounting roles.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for automation and analytics.Experience in process improvement and solving complex operational problems.Ability to make independent decisions and recommendations.Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.Job Requirement
