As a member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting our government sponsors by developing, analyzing, and implementing Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM) systems and threat device defeat techniques to protect military personnel. Potential threats include all manner of wireless devices and systems, including advanced wireless communications systems.

As a RF Systems Engineer, you will …Evaluate next generation Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM) systems while developing advanced techniques to defeat wireless threatsPerform tear down analyses and reverse engineer wireless devicesAnalyze wireless communications systems robustness to interferenceWork with ECM system vendors to optimize performance and effectivenessDevise and participate in field tests to evaluate threat defeat effectiveness

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have:Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience8+ years of experience developing and analyzing RF / Microwave circuits and systems, including RF digital communications systemsWell versed in the development of wireless link budgets, radio wave propagation concepts, and RF circuit cascade analysesComprehensive understanding of digital signal processing, including digital modulation and demodulation concepts and signal codingSkilled in RF and microwave test measurements / concepts and test equipment, including network analyzers, vector signal generators, vector signal analyzers, and oscilloscopesStrong oral and written communication skills. Ability to generate effective proposals and technical reports.Proven excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently or manage a team of engineers, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.The ability to work on-site at APL's main campus as well as at commercial and government test sites.Are able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance by start date, and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...Team leadership and / or project management experienceElectronic warfare (EW) applications experience, including Electronic Support (ES), Force Protection (FP), Electronic Attack (EA), and Counter Unmanned Systems (CUxS)Matlab experience simulating RF systems, including digitally modulated waveforms, receivers and transmittersSystem level knowledge of digital signal processing architectures to process and respond to detected received signalsFamiliarity with antenna types, patterns, and measurement techniquesExperience developing automated test programs to characterize RF transmitters and receiversHold a TS/SCI security clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
