Position Summary

:

NICTD is seeking a skilled and experienced Network/Systems Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a passion for managing complex IT infrastructure. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.

Description

:

Network & System Administratorduties include the following:

Oversee and assist in the field service and repair of computer systems, peripherals, network equipment, and security equipment (access control and cameras). Establish and maintain network users, computer security, and user resources in Microsoft Windows Servers and Microsoft Exchange with Active Directory. Oversee and assist with the repair and services, including installation of servers, workstations, adding and removing software as required. Oversee and assist with the installation and administration of all company local and wide area networks. Respond to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs, such as Microsoft Office. Remain abreast of changes in user and system software and hardware requirements. Oversee and assist with the monitoring and administer the computer networks, keeping system information up to date in a network log. Update network and client operating systems as required. Oversee and assist with the installation and update of software applications as required for Windows Security Updates and Endpoint Detection and Response solution. Oversee and assist with the proper software licensing for all company software packages. Oversee and assist with the management of the system backups, user files, data security and network rights. Performs other duties as directed by the Chief Information Officer. Position Requirements

:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in network and systems administration. Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and network devices (routers, switches, firewalls). Configure and maintain network security protocols, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Implement and manage network access control policies. Experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux). Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail. Implement and enforce security policies and procedures. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Respond to security incidents and implement corrective actions. Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications. Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python). Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) Physical Demands

The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary and Benefits :

Salary range is expected to be $80,000-$90,000. Salary will be based on skills, experience, and consistent with pay structure for others with comparable assignments. Credit for time served in other railroad employment and military service will be applied in determining vacation day entitlements. The benefit package will be the standard set of benefits received by NICTD management. Details are available during the interview process. Relocation benefits do not apply to this position.
