Data Engineering Interns for 2025

! Are you curious about the cloud, data, software, and the Intelligence Community? SAIC is looking for enthusiastic, self-starting, entry-level individuals who will graduate in 2024 or 2025 and want to help our IC customers process and exploit the data collected by an increasingly large and diverse array of sensors. This will be done at multiple levels of analysis and classification to support a diverse range of consumers, including automated and autonomous control systems, warfighters, military leaders, and government officials and their appointed agents who are responsible for the nation’s strategic decision making. Qualified candidates must be able to work well in a group setting and have great communication skills. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams, receive mentorship, and gain insight into our values-driven process. Our goal is both to support your growth and development while empowering you for a successful start to your career. The NIC has a wide variety of technical needs; specifics of the role will be defined based on candidate experience, interests, and program needs.

Program Timeline:

Interviewing begins in October/November of 2024

Selections complete by December 2024

On-boarding activities begin in January 2025

Internship Program begins in June 2025 and ends in August 2025

As a Data Engineer Intern for SAIC, you will empower our support to the intelligence mission by digitally managing and organizing IC data and programs, improving the business processes, governing data, and data management standards, and developing best practices and standards to optimize use of digital resources.

Exemplar projects/capstones are:

Develop and deploy next generation UI/UX prototypes for analysis and exploitation of IC data

Develop and deploy improved content management and distribution prototypes for IC products

Develop and deploy improved data visualization prototypes to improve IC analytics via best of breed technologies

Develop and deploy data operations pipelines to improve operations of a data platform

Responsibilities include:

Work in an agile environment where quick iterations and good feedback is a way of life

Contribute to the ideation and brainstorming processes required to develop game-changing products and programs

Design and develop data products to assist consumers with their decision making

Document and present results

Prioritize and organize your own work to meet deadlines

Qualifications

Must have High School diploma and be actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement, graduating in 2025 or 2026

2 years of experience, academic and/or professional

Must have experience with one previous internship

Ability to obtain a TS/SCI and Poly clearance

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Reside in local area while in the internship program

Available to work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks from June 2024 to August 2024

Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic machine learning concepts

Knowledge of basic natural language processing (NLP)

Knowledge of basic graph analysis

Knowledge of spaCy, Elastic Search, Neo4j, Kibana, kafka, OLlama, Llama.cpp, Hugging Faces

Previous internship or work experience

Experience with web application development

Experience with large data sets and data analytics

Experience with any of the following: Python, Pandas, Spark, Hadoop, AWS (EMR, EC2, RDS, S3), Jupyter, Docker, SQL, R, Git
