MUST:Experienced Surgical Technologist - Surgery2+ years of experience as a Surgical Technologist - Surgery2+ years of experience as a scrub tech, working in operating roomMust have OB experienceGreat communications skills and attention to detailsBasic computer skillsAbility to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general publicAbility to make decisions and solve problemsAbility to sit/stand for long periods; ability to walkCapability for occasional overhead and low reachingPhysical strength for equipment needs and patient-care activitiesVisual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient-care assessment activitiesAbility to move quickly in response to patient needsAbility to make frequent judgments and respond to routine problemsAbility to make occasional judgments and respond to disasters or emergencies, actual events, or drillsCooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physiciansCompletion of surgical scrub technician courseCurrent CPR CertificationHigh school diploma or GED certification
DUTIES:Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedureAssembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians preference cardsInspects equipment for proper working conditionFollows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room proceduresAdheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedureArranges instruments according to given procedureConfirms that instruments work properlyMaintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delaysReports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policyCorrectly uses, cares for, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment as directedHandles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safetyAssists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedureAssists in storing and stocking supplies as directedMaintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons preference cardsResponds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physicianDocuments patient-care records and other forms according to facility policies and proceduresAccurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patients statusPerform other duties as assignedQuadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
