General Job Summary:
This is a full-time position located on the Emmetsburg Campus. Primary responsibilities include leading initiatives and projects that create robust partnerships with regional K-12 school districts, businesses, industries, organizations, and other community partners in order to enhance project-based learning, work experiences aligned with industry-recognized credentials, student learner programs, career exploration, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and internships. Some evening and weekend duties required; moderate regional and state travel required.

Systematically collaborate with regional K-12 school districts, businesses, industries, and organizations to ascertain and communicate requisite career and professional workplace skill expectations and needs.Coordinate, lead, and oversee work-based learning experiences, career exploration activities designed to link high school students, teachers, counselors, and staff to regional business, industry, and organization career opportunities.Coordinate, lead, and oversee career exploration activities designed to link middle school students, teachers, counselors, and staff to regional business, industry, and organization career opportunities.Create, implement, and lead initiatives to offer workplace-based learning experiences to secondary students including pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and internships.Coordinate, facilitate, and oversee regular “needs-alignment” work sessions to enhance collaboration among educators, businesses, and industries and to ensure that educational programming remains aligned with business and industry needs and expectations.

Lead and facilitate initiatives with regional K-12 school districts, businesses, industries, economic development corporations, workforce development, and other organizations to engage in reflective thought and discussions about labor market and economic development trends impacting northwest Iowa.Administer surveys to relevant internal and external stakeholders to assess program satisfaction and outcomes.Timely and accurately collect and report the following program data, together with any additional information requested or required:Number of schools/districts in the regionNumber of schools/districts in the region servedNumber of secondary students in the regionNumber of concurrent enrollment students servedNumber and types of work-based learning experiences (identify career cluster and targeted industry)Number of internships (paid and unpaid)Number of employers actively involved in partnerships and their specific roleNumber of teachers/counselors involved in teachers-in-the workplace experiencesNumber of PACE/GAP program students served, if applicableNumber of college students served, if applicable
Assist with marketing on career information on the Iowa Lakes Community College website that contains information about workplace learning opportunities, business and industry skill information, and other data and information to assist regional K-12 teachers, counselors, and staff to properly advise secondary students.Assist with regional advisory councils and facilitate regional advisory council meetings on at least a yearly basis. Ensure that the regional advisory council fulfills its assigned tasks.

Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time and driving to local districts and businesses. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling and carrying. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently. Required to utilize personal vehicle for some travel. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance. Will require flexible hours including weekend and evenings and moderate travel.
