Ultrasound Technician- OutpatientAnnapolis, MDPay From: $50 per hour

MUST:Experienced Ultrasound Technician must have experience:1 plus year of experienceMust have current ARRT(S), ARDMS certifications or ARDMS Registry EligibleMust have a current CPR certificationMust have strong verbal and written communication skills

DUTIES:Performs all ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals, complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirementsAssists radiologists with ultrasound-guided biopsies and procedures if neededCommunicates to the patient the nature of the procedure and answers questions clarifying the procedure for the patientAssures patients' rights and privacy are maintainedResponsible for proper documentation and maintenance of all required department recordsPerforms all quality control testing as requiredAssists in the transporting of patientsMakes suggestions to improve work methodsProvides orientation and training to new sonographers as directedPerforms other related duties incidental to the work thereinProduces high quality diagnostic images in a timely manner while providing excellent patient careTreats patients and customers, including family members or care providers that may accompany the patient, with courtesy, professionalism and respectMonitors patients' well-being during exam; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate actionUnderstands the methods used to generate ultrasound data and the theory and operation of the instruments that detect, display, and store the acoustic information generated in clinical examinationsUnderstands the potential bio-effects associated with ultrasound exposureChecks patient history, and obtains appropriate signed waivers, if necessaryConsults with radiologist when necessary to determine appropriate scanning procedureCompletes all paperwork and exam reports associated with technical proceduresResponds to physician questions and needs regarding patient proceduresChecks referral for appropriate study based on patient historyKeeps ultrasound exam rooms and dressing booths clean and properly stocked with supplies
