Overview:
Candidate should have a foundation in writing technical documentation and manuals and be comfortable interacting with software engineers, development teams, customers, and users. The technical writer should have the ability to design and layout graphical product overviews and related marketing material.This position is located in the Fort Meade area, and is 100% full time on site.#jcteResponsibilities:Research, develop and write user focused and maintainer focused technical documentation and training materials for military and commercial systems.Edit technical publications to meet CDRL requirementsLearn and understand the technical design of the system well enough to be effective at transforming input from developers and engineers into written and graphical documents that are understandable by users and customersLead and assist with developing briefings in PowerPoint that are suitable for presentation to high level government and corporate personnelSupport and develop training materials for software centric IT systemsRequired Experience/Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science, with a concentration in Information Systems, Communications or Engineering preferred.Minimum 3 years of experience in technical writing.Minimum 1 year experience using Jira and Confluence in an Agile environmentCustomer focused with strong interpersonal skillsAbility to understand high level IT and software conceptsAbility to communicate with development teams, engineers, technicians, training teams and customer personnel.Ability to ask questions and listen to the answersAbility to conduct peer reviews of documentation and solicit and incorporate feedbackAbility and drive to complete assignments on scheduleWrite using clear and concise language using proper English in a format understandable to the target audience (Users and Maintainers)Ability to create hardware or software documentation from start to finish, including manual formatting, indexing, creation of all text, illustrations, block diagrams, theory of operations, power point presentations, procedures, etc.Ability to create user-focused training materials and coursewareExperience developing briefings in PowerPoint that are suitable for presentation to high level government and corporate personnelProficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.Special Requirements/Security Clearance:
Active TS/SCI clearance
